How overrated is this guy?
I keep waiting for him to prove his worth and live up to his expectations but he constantly loses possession, does not give the defence much protection and barely provides any assists.
I would be surprised if we take up the option of a further 2 years at the end of the season.
Great result today! COYI

haha now that would be harsh.
All about opinions NS. Mine is he looked to be the one who could unlock a packed defence.
No one else did........
What i was a bit cheesed off with is every time Cresswell got the ball he cut back inside to give Payet the ball. We know he can cross, WTF didnt he stick a few in the box, especially when big AC was on.
We didnt utilitise AC whatsover.

Alex Song – 4
Tried to graft alongside the skipper in the centre of the field, but had a frustrating evening and wasn’t able to exert too much influence on the game. Wasted a few good opportunities in the second half, must do better.

I gather that 4/10 and not -4/10

Our best player on the night IMO.
Badly missed Kouyate in the middle. I hope is back for tomorrow night.

Sorry to repeat, but N'Golo Kante would have been perfect for us. We were in for him long before Leicester but didn't want to pay the fee. He has been absolutely brilliant for them, shame we didn't pursue the deal.
What we should look for is another Kante, not the caant here on loan.

Re: Song

he is an asset only at the right wages
its fine winning the ball like he does but often doesn't use it quickly and effectively some of the time and for that reason slows our play up

Re: Song

For me the players who vastly underperformed were Moses and Antonio. Both awful.
Valencia got into positions and had several goal attempts (in the main very poor ones) and should have had a penalty in the first half.
Payet was average and now has to play with 2 men on him all game. Lanzini coming back will help him out.

Jon I have seen dribbling retards that can pick the ball up deep and pass it 5 yards to a team mate... except the dribbling retard does not need 4 or 5 touches to get control of the ball...

Re: Song

consistency is obviously a problem he was awesome against man city but average at southampton and his shooting was woeful but surely we want players of his ability at west ham?

Re: Song

Btw he had 95 (most in in the entire match) touches with a pass completion rate of 91% (only Noble beat that exlcuding defenders). Plus i saw him several times go forward with the ball.
3 shots (all poor) 2 key passes.
Shit that isnt it?

'Ran the midfield'? You mean Southampton defended deep in numbers giving up the midfield. They still came close to scoring two goals whilst down to ten men. God knows this forum would be in meltdown if Charlie Austin had taken his excellent chance.
Song does not have the pace we need, and if he gets a permanent contract he will become a liability in my opinion.

Would personally let him go and use the money more wisely.
If we ever come up against him, just pressurise him and he will make mistakes. Does it almost without fail.
Shame but there it is. Talented but doesn't play with any responsibility whatsoever, and so is a liability most of the time.

Lost the ball 3 times in first half. 2 in his own half. Moves it too slow and if your on over 100k a week and have time to measure a shot 25 yards from goal i expect you to hit the target. He had two goes at it and didnt make Forster move an inch. He needs to go back to basics...win the ball and move it on quick, not try and beat a man every time before he passes.

Course he did Kaka, Got the ball and moved it on, barely put a pass out of place in that second half.
I thought he was very good.

Ran the midfield? Hahaha.
He was terrible. So fucking slow.
Gets the ball, takes four touches and then releases. Or loses it.

He's not a 'great' player.
He's just not.
He can be a good player, which is no bad thing.
But he cocks things up too often because unfortunately he also think he is a 'great'.

Ran the midfield on Saturday. Passing was great, shooting was rank.
Getting a lot of stick for his performance with no foundation at all.
